Ceredigion County Council

We are used by the local council as a holding kennel for those dogs that are unfortunate enough to get lost or abandoned. We hold these dogs for a nine day period and then unless claimed they are offered up for rehoming. They are either rehomed from here or will be moved on to various rescue kennels where they are put up for adoption. NO dog is destroyed unless in very poor health or exceptional circumstances eg. too vicious to rehome safely. This decision is never taken lightly and we work hard to not have to come to this conclusion.

For anyone who has lost a dog, you will know how heartbreaking it is, to help us to re-unite you, please get your dog micro-chipped. This will enable the Dog Wardens to get the dog back to you asap.

If your dog is fortunate enough to have been picked up and handed in to the Warden or to us directly, it will unfortunately cost you a release fee. This covers the cost of the Warden having to collect the dog and bring it to us, the paperwork that comes with it, and possibly numerous phone calls to try and reach you, and the dogs keep while in the kennels. If your dog is micro-chipped hopefully this cost will be kept to a minimum.

Also note that a dog must be wearing a collar with identification at all times, this includes your address and phone number, not the dogs name....this is the law and you leave yourself open to prosecution
and a £5000 fine if you do not comply .

Micro-chipping available at £10.00 per dog.

Any clubs requiring a chipping night please feel free to contact me and we can arrange a suitable date.

PATRICIA SENIOR author, singer, doggy angel....

Picture
Thanks to Pat we can carry on helping our unwanted, strays and problem dogs a bit easier. Our Angel has not only donated money regularly, while taking and finding homes for out scruffiest and most in need dogs, but she has now found a way of ordering food for us direct from our local feed merchant.
Just when I was getting dis-illusioned in the human race, she comes along and proves there is caring people out there somewhere.
Thanks Pat, from us and the dogs.

BEN

Picture
R.I.P  A sad day for us all here, after years of looking after this boy, an x-ray today showed it was bone cancer as I suspected. Due to his age and his circumstances we made the decision it was kinder to let him go. We are sorry to have let this boy down, being unable to find him his forever home, but we loved him to the best of our abilities and would like to think he was a happy boy while here. A bad day for us as we feel we failed him. Thank you to David our volunteer dog walker who gave Ben something to look forward to in his last few weeks, he was very grateful and so were we.

DOGS FOR REHOMING

BUBBLE, SQUEAK AND MASH

Picture
Tw collie pups 2 Black/White 1 short coat Bitch and 1 long coat Dog and 1 Blue Merle Bitch. Squeak (Blue Merle) has through an unfortunate accident lost a back leg, this wont affect her in later life as she will have grown up with it missing. Ready now.

ANN

Picture
Found tied to a tree in a woods, not on a used route, so obviously left to die. She has ripped out nails trying to break free and if not for a walkers dog finding her would not have lasted a lot longer.. Is putting on weight slowly but surely, very good temperament with people and with most dogs, but met my Saint Bernard today and took an instant dislike to him. Loves affection and is reasonably obedient and easy to train. She just wants to sleep all day.
An unsuccessfull attempt to rehome, as she never got on with the resident dog, so an only dog home required. The people were gutted bringing her back as they said they have never come across such a loving well behaved dog and would recommend her to anyone as a pet.
ANN now.......

DOGS BELOW ARE NOT MINE BUT STILL REQUIRE HOMES

CHRISTINE

Picture
2/3yr old Staffie who was originally a stray. She is good with people, other dogs, & livestock, but is untried with cats. She has a very loving nature and is a typical, friendly staffie. If you would like to offer Christine a home, please call 01570 471450 or contact us and we will pass on your details.

All the dogs below have been transfered to another rescue, to give them a better chance of rehoming, and most now in foster care, much much better than kennels, but to my knowledge still available for rehoming, will put on the rescues direct contact if interested at a later date, but in the meantime feel free to contact me.

For more dogs looking for homes please go to 'more' and see ARC

Below are  rehomeds successes...

MATTY

Picture
REHOMED Cavalier bitch, unclaimed stray, middle aged, a real sweetie, possible ex breeding bitch, was found very smelly and covered in mats......hence her name. Overweight and on a diet, but quite a sprightly girl. In season at the moment so will have to be spayed at a later date. A nervous girly so a home with no young children will be more suitable for her. Ok with dogs and cats. Loves her crate and uses it as her secure zone, but I am sure as she picks up confidence she will not need this. She is having her trim and her photo will be put on once she looks neat. Ready now.

EDDIE

Picture
REHOMED Young Staffy dog, handed in on xmas day. Proclaimed to have been a stray, but was in very good condition. A very submissive little boy, who loves cuddles once he is confident enough to come to you. Would be a lovely companion. His time is up on the 2nd January. God was on his side and sent a very special couple for this boy, reserved him before his time was up. Thanks for a good 2012 for this boy.

LUKE

Picture
HOMED An older collie dog possibly been a working collie but has a temperament to die for. Very loving and plays ball with a bit of persuading. Would make a loving addition to any family and a great companion on your walks, makes walking worthwhile if you have a friend to do it with.

SOPHIE

Picture
Husky x Collie bitch, removed from an abusive home. Only a year old, was placed in a home but proved too much for the new owners. She is a very active demanding girl, needing lots to occupy her mind and wear her out. Has been Spayed, Vaccined and Micro chipped.

http://www.ruffluckrescue.org.uk/

MOSS

Picture
Young Kelpie x, male, lovely temperament. Full of himself so will need an active family. Was kept by the farmer who found him, to see if he would make a working dog, but failed, so was passed on to us. Would probably make a good obedience/agility dog as he is very agile.

http://www.ruffluckrescue.org.uk/

BRUNO/SETH

Picture
Cracking Lurcher dog, brindle , long coat, possibly greyhound x collie? Male, unclaimed stray. so no history, is a real sweet young man but a bit on the nervous side, not nasty with it though. Would love a nice warm fire for the winter.  Has not shown any dog aggression to present, cats ok.

http://www.ruffluckrescue.org.uk/

LUCY

Picture
HOMED A large lurcher bitch, short coated, tan. Has had a run in with a car possibly as she had a large wound on her head and numerous grazes, came in lame on her hind from the mishap but that has cleared with rest. Loves people to death, would make a loving pet and would love her own settee to cwtch up in. NO cats small furries or small dogs. Will need retraining as she is a working lurcher.

http://www.ruffluckrescue.org.uk/

THEO

Picture
Young Collie male with a sweet temperament, I think probably a farm dog as he is not lead trained, but after going over slight hysteria he is slowly beginning to accept it. Next we have to conquer going for a walk.......lol

http://www.ruffluckrescue.org.uk/

BOUNCER

Picture
HOMED A Collie cross bitch, mostly black with a touch of white on her chest, unclaimed stray. Lovely temperament. However she can 'jump' so a very secure garden will be required. Would be an ideal agility dog, family pet for children to keep her amused, or someone into walking. Only a young bitch and will need training.

BIDDIE

Picture
HOMED 10yr old G.S.D. looking for a loving home to spend her final years in comfort & peace. She has lived in kennels all her life, and is in good health for her age. She has never lived in a home so is not house trained, but she never fouls her bed space. She enjoys her food & likes to take her bowls into her kennel with her. Biddy likes her walks and is very active, but she is not good with other bitches. If you would like to give Biddy a place by the fire for her final years, please contact   Brenda_7@hotmail.co.uk .

CLIVE

Picture
HOMED Patterdale dog, no spring chicken, eyes dont seem too good, but a lovely lad none the less and deserves a nice warm fire to cuddle in front of. Does as he is told and is clean in his kennel, I think he deserves a quieter home with possibly another older bitch as company. No cats as I do not know how he would react to them and no young children. Give this old boy a last chance to enjoy life and show him us humans can be nice. Unclaimed stray so no info.

NINA

Picture
HOMED Lurcher bitch, in need of TLC. Lovely temperament, definately a working lurcher, so will need retraining. NO cats or small furries and to be safe no small dogs. Will probably need house training as I dont think she has seen the inside of a house all her life. Micro-chipped to Manchester but unobtaineable....

HUGO

Picture
HOMED Labrador male, 5ish according to the vet. He is a very affectionate loving dog who when you are working sticks to your side like glue. He retrieves and returns the toy and presents it at a sit, so training has been done at sometime. Not ott so would make a nice steady family pet. Has bad ears which will be treated but I think one ear has been damaged too much to correct completely, so he may have to have his ear cleaned regularly to stop dirt build up.

Poor Hugo now Kai, obviously suffering in his new home - not.

CLYDE

Picture
HOMED Jack Russell x possibly, young male, stray. Not dog aggressive not cat tested as yet.  People friendly and well behaved. Stayed at the vets for 4 days and they all fell in love with him, before they turned him over to the kennels. Him and Bouncer are the best of friends and love rough and tumbles neither of them are exactly gentle while playing their games, so nice active family would be good.

BILLY

Picture
HOMED Yorkie x Chihuahua boy, 6 months, owner handed him in as she thought she didnt have the time he required. Very fun loving little imp which has joined in the pack with no problem. Good with cats, traveling, crate trained, needs a tad of work on the house training side as he forgets....

HONEY

Picture
HOMED A very elderly bitch, picked up as a stray. Staffy, tan coloured whose name is Honey according to her disc. Had a possible broken leg at some time, has missing teeth and is never going to win any beauty competitions but is a darling. all she wants is a nice warm bed to sleep in and a fire. No donation is required for this dog just a really good home. OWNER FOUND BUT NO LONGER WANTS HER

TOODLES

Picture
HOMED Young Bichon dog, 7 months, very active but very loving and gets on with dogs and cats. Previous owners could no longer keep him as he was too much for them, both suffering from health problems plus he was annoying their older dog who was getting stressed because of it. so for theirs and the old boys sake they let him go.

HOPPITY

Picture
HOMED Young JR bitch, white and tan, short coat. Lovely temperament. Came in with an injured front leg and is still hopping, hence the name. Swelling has gone down now and she is using it, so in time she will be back to normal. Came in very dirty so suspect she has been an outdoor working dog but is very friendly and seems ok with dogs not cat tested, might be better without cats to be safe.

SUSIE

Picture
HOMED Cavalier bitch, tri colour, aprox 5 years. Susie is a very confused little girl, she was taken in by a Care Home for Adults with Learning Disabilities as the house dog, from an environment that had her caged and outside. She settled in a treat and loves everyone to death, helping a lot with the problem young adults as a calming influence. Unfortunately the home has had to close down and Susie along with its clients is homeless. She has been used to someone around her all the time and cries if left alone, so must be placed in a home that has someone home, not at work. Would suite either a young family or an elderly household, as long as she gets her cuddles shes happy.

MISSY

Picture
HOMED Her micro chip says she is an English Bull Terrier........I would suspect she is a x English. Seems a bit nervous but very gentle bitch. An unclaimed stray, so no history. Aprox 18 months bitch. Her chip is registered to Birmingham, so she has had a long walk down here !!!!! Good with dogs, shows an unhealthy interest in cats, but not too aggressive so a bit of work should bring that round if required.

ROCKY

Picture
Staffie x boy, about 15 months old. He is very friendly but not good with cats. He gets on with other dogs, but may be better in an only-dog home. He can be possessive of his toys and will answer back if another dog picks on him. He's ok to be left alone for a short time, but has been kept in a cage for 12 hours a day. If you think you could offer this lovely boy a home, please call 07975 533944 or contact ARC and we will pass your details on.
Rocky went out for the day to an agricultural show and was entered into a dog show and won first place in handsome dog. as you can see from his picture he enjoyed himself, even when he had ears and a bow put on him. so when he finds his forever home he will come with his very own red rossette.....

GINA

Picture
HOMED A real young one this one 6 months top whack, is going to be a big un when full grown, has massive feet to grow into. Picture does not show true size. Typical bouncy baby in need of training. someone loved her at some time, dont know why she was a stray and not claimed. A nice family home with kids to play with would be her idea of heaven on earth.
Gina went to a show with Rocky and was a star, wants to play with everyone, she didnt win herself a rossette but was given her very own 2nd place rossette for being a good girl.
Gina in her new home with her now best mate Bruiser, a happy ending for this girl being totally spoilt rotten.

BRUISER

Picture
HOMED Unclaimed stray, not sure what this young man is, possible lab x boxer poss mastiff x. but breed aside he is out of this world. Approx 7-10 mths, came in with a horrendous injury to his neck as seen in the pictures this has now been patched up at the vets and healing nicely. Has had some training but a typical boisterous large breed pup and needs more. Good with dogs, ok with cats but does squash them to play...maybe a bit too boisterous for very young children. We are ready now for our next phase in our life, our new forever home.
A  face only a mother could love...!!! But a happy one, both these two have fallen on their paws, with a very loving family willing to put up with their boisterous activities and their endearing antics - not..... They must have the patience of Saints.

ANITA

Picture
HOMED  This is a young Shar Pei bitch found as a stray, has a good temperament, not dog aggressive and seems ok with cats. Has been to the vets for her eyes, as typical of the breed she has weepy eyes. Ideally she should have an operation but it is a bit awkward, so just keeping the eyes clean and watched will suffice for now. Her skin isnt perfect, another breed fault but just needs good care to maintain its health. So other than her breed health faults in herself a happy little bundle of joy with a great character.

AT HOME

Picture
Who says we cant all get on............Nita in her , we hope, new home, after all what is the point of being a foster carer if you cant fall in love now and then....lol She has settled in a treat and is being a really really good girl. Going to have all her surgeries to correct her eyes and her spey, so no babies. This is all being provided by Shar Pei rescue who have taken her on. anyone interested in a Sharpei please feel free to contact them on
https://shar-pei-rescue.co.uk

SEREN

Picture
HOMED A young collie bitch pup, under a year. Unclaimed stray. nervous but not a nasty bone in her body. Ok with dogs not cat tested as yet. She has a rare endearing fault, she has one eye smaller than the other, eye sight is fine though just makes her different..Very very sweet, tiny little thing, just desperate for affection.

ROCKET

Picture
HOMED 7 month Border Collie pup, very very active, in need of training. good with dogs, will chase cats but doesnt harm them. Would suite a very active family or someone interested in obedience/agility etc.

BECCA now PEPPER

Picture
HOMED Rockets sister now in her lovely new home, obviously helping with the gardening. Nor being the bestest girlie in the world, but being loved just the same. and will improve in time. So with her new friends now a very happy bunny, thanks Nic,  and thanks for your donations to help the others.

SUSIE

Picture
HOMED Shitz x Peke, 8yr bitch, speyed. Only for rehoming due to not getting on with another bitch in the family. Would probably be better in an only dog or one dog family and no young children. Ok with cats.  Call Wendy on 07934792798 for more details.

ARNIE

Picture
HOMED Husky x Lab, a 2 yr old boy, who is a real soppy daft lump. However he is a wanderer, and in his present home on a smallholding he is disappearing for hours - not good in sheep country. So whatever home he goes to will have to have a good secure garden. Much as though his present owners love him to bits, they are scared he is going to get shot.

ARNIE IN HIS NEW HOME.....AND ON HOLIDAY

DUKE

Picture
HOMED 7yr old German Shepherd, gorgeous temperament, good with everything, strong on the lead, needs work. Handed in as owners bad health made it a bad home for him. But as a dog you couldnt ask for a nicer boy. Waiting now for his new forever home, please do him proud he deserves it.

GERRARD

Picture
HOMED A 4yr GSD, handed in as owner could no longer keep him. Nervous of strangers but Ok when he knows you. Is meant to be alright with dogs, cats, children etc etc but not tested as yet. Can be protective of his family so an experienced owner only and older children preferable.

SHOGUN

Picture
HOMED Young Rottie male, long tailed, unclaimed stray. A real love and likes nothing better to have cuddles. Someone out there must want to give this young boy a better start than he has had at the moment, dumped on a freezing beach in November. This boy has been returned to us, having protective issues, he adopted the lady of the family as his property and was starting to be possesive, trying to keep her husband away from her as well as one of the other dogs. They were very impressed with his ability to learn and were gutted to let him go, but her other half was getting very wary of him. So an experienced Rottie home with no children looks like his ideal home.

KELLY

Picture
HOMED Lovely little poss. Staff x, bitch, aprox 1 yr. Lovely temperment gets on with other dogs and loves people and kids. Could possibly get protective so will need an experienced home. She was found wandering around and took herself off into a village hall for warmth. So quite an intelligent little lady.

BILL and BEN

Picture
HOMED 2 sheepdog pups, males, 8 weeks, black/white and black/tan, short coats, farmer has decided to shoot them rather than bother rehome.

SNITCH and SNATCH

Picture
HOMED 2  x breeding West Highland White bitches, believed to be mother and daughter. Will need house training and lead training as they have had no socialisation at all. Definately no cats. Ok with other dogs, as not used to children would recommend older children only. Would like these 2 to go together but will seperate. Both have very sweet temperaments and deserve a one to one cuddly home .

ALFIE

Picture
HOMED Springer spaniel, male, aprox 5 yr old. Black and white, English type, short legged stocky. Drop dead gorgeous, with a temperament to match. Good with everything including children of all sizes. Loves his ball. Unclaimed stray. Apparently his only fault is he will run off if you take him down the beach. (we traced his ex owners) Will make any family proud to own him.

MAX

Picture
HOMED Choc. Lab male, approx 5 yrs. A dog to die for a real one in a million sweetheart. How no one came to reclaim this guy dumbfounds me. He is sooo tolerant of other dogs, good with cats, loves everyone. Loves his walks, car rides and is spotless in his kennel.

RUFUS

Picture
HOMED We have what we suspect is a youngish hunt hound. Found wandering on the road, extremely thin and very depressed. He has been wormed and fed up by his fosterer and he is coming out of himself and is becoming a happy boys again. At the present an assessment hasnt been done on this boy, but if you are interested we will start to work on him. He has been dog tested and was fine, and ok with people, just not sure of smaller animals.

TALLIS

Picture
HOMED Tallis is a neutered 1yr old male Staffie. A really lovely boy, very loyal and affectionate, also very boisterous and energetic. Great off the lead, he will come back when called. Good with children, but doesn’t yet know his boundaries when playing, so better suited to a home without younger children.
Pulls on lead, but with training he will get much better. Good with other dogs but will chase cats & probably other small animals. Found as a stray, he really needs a stable and loving forever home. Tallis has loads of potential to be such a great family dog & is learning fast! He is currently being fostered in Bristol.
Contact for Tallis is Rose 07791 142402
Please note this has been put on here on behalf of someone else and I take no resposibility for this particular dog.

KINA

Picture
HOMED Husky x, bitch, 1/2 years, unclaimed stray. Good with dogs, children, not cat tested as yet but I dont see a problem. A very playful but steady girl, make a nice companion for a family.

BILLY Beagle

Picture
CLAIMED A young red/white male, 1 yrish. Came in extremely thin and in a mess but has put on loads of weight and has stopped cowering in a corner and is being a mischief as young beagles should.... Would probably need housetraining, though he is good in his kennel as I suspect he hasnt seen the inside of a house in his life.

BEANS

Picture
HOMED Collie x. Female my deliberate mistake of the year, put down she was a male....lol. An unclaimed stray, came in extremely emaciated and is making up for it big time by eating everything she can get in her mouth. Only a youngster and needs a bit of work. Very nervous, I suspect she has been in an abusive home as she flinches if you raise your hand too quickly or the mop goes near her. Would look for a home with no very young children just to be safe, as she has shown no sign of aggression but she may snap if a child scares her.

DONALD

Picture
HOMED 5 year Springer Spaniel, his dad has lost his home and his new rented flat will not allow dogs. Unfortunately he comes with a few issues, though is a very affectionate dog to his owner. His issues seem to be round his neck and doesnt like his collar being removed or his lead taken off. However he is very ball orientated and can be persuaded to hold the ball rather than eat your hand....lol  I am sure he will make someone a very rewarding companion if you have the time and experience to get the issues corrected.
No children and an experienced home only.

This boy belongs to WSSW and has now been transfered to their foster home. If interested in him please contact them direct.

CALI

Picture
HOMED  12/14 week old Lurcher, male, black/white. At the moment he is living indoors to be socialised and is a poppet. We do have the odd mishap but we are a baby..... Good in all aspects.  Make a loving family pet. Unclaimed stray so no history

BLACKIE

Picture
HOMED till after xmas then he should be off to his new home, all being well. Labrador x, male. stray.  A bit unsure at first but soon settles. Seems sweet enough temperament wise, but will further test. Was in a family home till recently.

CIDA

Picture
HOMED A lovely boy but his elderly owner has had to be put into a home care situation and he needs a new forever home. A typical 4 yr old  fiesty Jack full of energy and in need of a bit of training. Has been known to nip at care workers protecting his owner but has shown no aggression here, so training will rectify that. Has never been around children so preferably no children home . Chases cats but I think this is a play situation but might be better in a no cat home as well. Havent seen any sign of undue dog aggression. A larger than normal Jack and heavy built. Will give a new owner hours of exercise and fun. In foster at present.

KIPPER

Picture
HOMED Possible Kelpie x, stray, unclaimed. Aprox 1 yr if that. Really sweet natured. Bitch. Liver and tan. Would make a lovely family pet. Extremely clean in kennel so should be housetrained. Walks well on lead, likes the car. Good with other dogs, tends to chase cats but it is to play. Very submissive.

BRUNO

Picture
REHOMED  Bruno is a 5 year old neutered GSD/Huskie cross who needs a loving forever home. He is quite boisterous and energetic, but this might be because he is not currently getting as much exercise as he needs. He's great with children (though maybe best not homed with very young children), good with cats and other dogs. He gets nervous in cars and when left alone, but hopefully he could overcome that. He needs a new home as his mum is unwell and no longer able to walk him and can't find anyone to give him the exercise he needs. He sounds like a lovely, friendly boy.
Contact for Bruno is Jo on 07973 379219
Please note this has been put on here on behalf of someone else and I take no resposibility for this particular dog.

COOPER

Picture
HOMED Cooper is a staffie x bull mastiff. He is 13 months old. Neutered. He is a very very affectionate playfull dog. He unfortunately doesnt get on with the other dog he is currently living with so is having to be rehomed. Generally he gets on well with most dogs but can be dominant. He probably couldnt live with cats or smaller animals. He has got so much love to give.He is a very special boy.
Please note this has been put on here on behalf of someone else and I take no resposibility for this particular dog.

CERI

Picture
RE-UNITED with her aged owner....Very aged Corgi bitch. Must be the year for the oldies to go walkabouts. Please meet our old lady, her hearing is not all that but she seems ok other than that. Just wants to sleep and eat. Curls up under her heat lamp on her quilt and you dont know shes there. If unclaimed we will need a very quiet home with a real warm fire for her to cwtch into, that, and food is all she wants to see her days out. she does like her grub. Available from 24/12/10

CARIAD

Picture
HOMED with Pat. I really didnt know what to call this old girl but then thought she is such a love hence her name, red/white Sheltie bitch, seen better days, aprox 13yrs. As typical oap, eyes and hearing not a lot of good, arthritis rife in all legs, bad skin, prelevant in this breed in old age. Is wearing a flea collar, so may have a flea allergy. Was found wandering aimlessly round a village till a kind hearted person took her in. Only just come in so is not due to be released till 8th December, make her day give her a warm bed to see her days out, she is begging you.

Cariad and Dad

Picture
Cariad in the arms of her new Daddy, a much happier bunny now, skin improving, legs improving, running around like a 2 yr old - with a slight limp....miracles take a little longer.

TAYLOR

Picture
HOMED by Pat bless her. Young Saluki x lurcher. Female. Deep golden coloured. Very nice nature. Seems ok with other dogs and people. Will need a reasonable amount of exercise being the type of dog she is and her age, so please bear this in mind if you wish to adopt her. Unclaimed stray, available from 2/12/10

RUFUS

Picture
Moved to Border Collie rescue. Tri coloured Colllie, male, 3yrs, castrated, micro-chipped, vaccinated. Too much for last owner, needs to have lots of exercise, eg agility, obedience. No children as he is inclined to snap at them. Ok with bitches and some submissive males. Not cat tested. Suite active adult household the more walking the better. The face says it all......I love you.

PACO

Picture
HOMED Huskamute bitch, 10 months, very very spoilt and full on. Needs training and very active home. Preferably older children only as little ones will go flying. Suffers from separation anxiety to a degree so will need work. Elderly owner just could not cope with her. Doesnt travel well in car, so that will need work as well. If you are up for a challenge with a lovely dog as your reward shes your girl.

ROXY

Picture
Moved on to Rottie Rehab if interested please look at their site. (http://rottierehab.com/index.html)
Young Rottie bitch, came in as a stray and has been unclaimed. A very affectionate girl, but can be a bit stubborn if doesnt get her own way, so no young children and a Rottie savvy home only. Deserves a loving home and a warm fire, not stuck in cold uninviting kennels. Her weight is down and now she has boundless energy and is crying out for someone to help her. Good with dogs and cats but can be a bit ott, so is inclined to squish..... training is required, but if you have the time and the energy she will make a great dog.

SEEKA

Picture
HOMED Hound, bitch, 7/8 yrs, unclaimed stray. Obviously been used as a brood bitch. Very very loveable though a little shy. We are having to hang on to her for a little while just in case she is in pup. She was running free for 3 weeks before hunger took the better of her and she allowed herself to be caught. In this time she was in full season. But if you are interested please feel free to come and see her, get your home check sorted and then as soon as she is available she can go straight out - fingers x'd she is not carrying. Would make a nice older persons dog with a big garden as she just loves to lay around relaxing. No children, I think she deserves a bit of quiet in her life now.

BARNEY

Picture
HOMED Golden Cocker, castrated male. Stray. 5yrs. Temperment seems ok, but will further test. Seems ok with dogs and cats but will test further. Not for rehoming till 12/11/10. Very over weight and coat in such a mess that he will have to be clipped out, but will regrow back to its former glory. Pic. to follow...

POOR BARNEY

Picture
We have shaved Barney off, as his coat was a matted lump, and to our horror he is eaten alive with fleas, under his coat is numerous sore patches and as we clipped the fleas were running to hide. In the picture every dark dot is a huge flea. I was itching more than him by the end, he still needs a bit more trimming but at least he is comfotrable now.

Max

Picture
HOMED 10yr gsd x collie, male, good with dogs, kids, people but chases cats. Not neutered, not vaccinated. Definately not a old 10 yr old more like a 5 yr. Strong on a lead and will need a decent amount of exercise. Been with the same family for all his life, but change of circumstances forced them to part ways. Lived with a young child and used to sleep on her bed. Will need a very secure garden.

SAM

Picture
HOMED 4yr old GSD, short coat, black/gold, castrated. Lovely dog to look at and very confused as to why he is here. Unfortunately his home companions - terriers - keep starting on him, and when he fights back he does the damage. We would recommend, because of this he is an only dog until he has had training and socialising. The owner admits it isnt his fault but cant keep him seperate from the terriers. He is ok with people once he knows them, but aloof with strangers. Has a herding instinct and would round up small children, so older children only. Seems ok with cats, met mine and ignored them. Apparently a very faithful and loving dog to his owner. Pic to follow.

BENSON

Picture
 HOMED
Dogue de Bordeaux  x  Male, stray, aprox 18 months, red. Brought in by the finder who had him for 3 days and loved him to bits but his circumstances wouldnt allow him to keep him. He is house trained, obedience trained, seems good with dogs, though typical bully a bit heavy handed. Very loving which may be his down fall as he doesnt like to be seperated from you. Could do with a bit more weight, but then would be a real handsome guy.

MILO

HOMED  Jack Russell Dog, 3 years, short coat. Extremely sweet with people but dominant with male dogs at times. Castrated, Micro chipped. Owner could no longer cope with him fighting with his girlfriends male Jack Russell, though he got on fine with the other male. So after trying all different ways to solve the problem, they reluctantly let him go before one of them got badly hurt.  Milo has been returned through getting protective over his Dad and going for his daughters dog, so he will have to be placed in an only dog home with someone that has JR experience. He would make a fantastic working dog and would love to be on the go the whole time, if you are looking for a working companion please come and see him.

BLITZ now Ben

Picture
HOMED out on trial at the moment to see if he gets on with the cat. Collie x, young male, 10 months aprox, unclaimed stray. Extremely shy but sooooo gentle, he just needs bringing round and he will make a beautiful family pet. At the moment he is scared of his own shadow. I suspect he has seen nothing of the world, so not quite sure where he has been kept. Has a horrendous overshot jaw, but believe me doesnt affect his eating.......Never had a collar and lead on, so needs training from the very beginning. Give this gentle lad a chance of a happy ending, as he hasnt had a very good start. The volunteer dog walkers have got Blitz going out for walks now and he is a different dog, still seems to prefer women to men though but loves everyone in his own quiet gentle way.

RAGS now BRYN

Picture
HOMED Cross Collie/Shepherd? Large dog though very on the thin side. When he came in as a stray he didnt know what a lead was and reacted violently, however with time and patience, oh and treats, he has come on in leaps and bounds. I would go as far as to say he would make a good obedience prospect. In a short period of time he is heeling, sitting, recalling. He is so willing to please you he will do anything. He is still very unsure and needs bringing on. When brought in he was showing extreme aggression through fear, but has not shown any signs since. Bearing in mind he was poled in and wasnt used to a lead, this was an acceptable slip up in his behaviour.

BOB

Picture
HOMED now living very happily at Eton College....wonder if he is going for a degree
Bob is going to Collie rescue, so x fingers they will be able to find this gorgeous cuddly dog his well deserved permanent home. Collie, male, 5/6yrs. A total love, very submissive and just loves his cuddles. Is going to get a good groom this week as he is a mess, so he may be a bit tatty as some knots are going to have to be shaved out. Good with other dogs and cats. Will make a terrific companion Unclaimed stray, owners were evicted after trashing a rented house and Bob was chucked out into the street, he deserves a lot better treatment than that.

BARNEY

Picture
HOMED Came in 2 years ago as a stray and we have yet to find the right home for him. A truly loving dog, once he is your dog he just loves you to bits. He unfortunately is Dog/Cat aggressive and you must be his boss. He has also shown some food aggression so must go to a Rottie experienced home only. He is aprox 4 years old but as a stray we dont know for sure.
Barney at the moment has gone on a break to Capel Garmon Kennels for a change of scenery if you are interested in him please phone Anne directly on 01690 710465
WELL DONE ANNE FOR GIVING THIS LOVELY DOG A SECOND CHANCE.

WALLACE

Picture
TAKEN IN BY OUR ANGEL TO LIVE OUT HIS LIFE IN COMFORT  What can I say about us humans. Poor Wallace was dumped at the side of the road with his designer collar and his designer bed and a chair. This must have been a much loved pet, why risk him being killed or injured on a road in the latter years of his life. He is about 8/9 years old and a very confused little boy. A black tan Jack Russell x, broken coat. He has a lump on his side which will be investigated by a vet before he is allowed anywhere, but other than long nails seems healthy.

Wallace and friends

Picture
Here he is looking nice and plump with all his cooked chicken, Wallace that is, laying around on the back of the sofa, viewing his domain. Lump is getting larger but as he has put weight on, it doesnt look so bad and he is coping well. Another success. Yayyyyyy.

RUPERT

Picture
MOVED ON TO ANOTHER RESCUE  Staffy boy, unclaimed stray. Very gentle boy who loves everyone. Very timid with other dogs and looks to you for protection, this should be nurtured, and handled correctly this should be a nice all round family pet. Only a youngster so will settle into a family home nicely. I cannot understand how a nice boy like this ended up on the street. Available from 24/7/10

GILLY

Picture
Went with Rupert to another rescue.  A 6 month, not too sure what breed, possibly Lurcher, poss. Staff x. but very sweet. Little brindle bitch. Was handed in to a vet as a stray, apparently the finder took her home and she was destructive. Whether this is through insecurity or not we dont know. So intensive work and keeping her amused will be a priority if you are thinking of adopting her.Available from 31/7/10

JACK THE LAD

Picture
HOMED  Boxer Male, absolutely lovely temperament with everyone, hates being in kennels. Aprox 3 yrs old, will be castrated as he is quite dominant. Picked up as a stray, and has been unclaimed. A very typical Boxer bouncy, full of himself and doesnt think before doing things.

Chinese Crested's

Picture
HOMED We are having Chinese Crested being brought in for re-homing. These are an extremely affectionate little dog who love loads and loads of cuddles. They come in Hairless and Powderpuff which have a long flowing coat. I will test on arrival and will publish their suitability at a later date. We may possibly be having more in at a later date, if you are interested please contact and leave your details and number.

THEO

Picture
One of the Chinese Crested hairless, above as it came in, here as he is now. Maybe slightly on the tubby side now, but a very happy chappy. There are good ends in life. He now has his forever home as have the other 6 that came in with him.

JORDAN

Picture
HOMED  Has been moved on to another rescue but can put you in touch if interested.Bull Mastiff bitch, fawn, an ex breeder who hasnt been been kept in the best of conditions, a real sweetie. We have been told she does take a dislike to other dogs, so would be best as an only dog, we dont know how she is with cats, but have been told she is good with people and children. We believe she is around the 3 yr mark but dont know for sure.

HARVEY 3 legs

Picture
HOMED Absolutely cracking Long haired white in dire need of a loving careing home, not doing well in the kennel environment so is underweight, and needs a warm fire to cuddle up to. He came in matted up and I have groomed him to my best ability, have had to cut off his hair underneath, but it wont take long to come back. 5 yr old, lost his leg in a car accident, runs with my pack no problem, and will only chase the cats if they run. Fantastic with people though he does mouth off at them if you look into his kennel, totally different dog when out, loves everyone. Though he only has 3 legs he is very active and doesnt need restricted exercise. He lost his family due to redundancy and rented accomodation wouldnt allow him in, so neither his fault or his dads.

SONIC

Picture
HOMED What can I say about this poor wee thing. I thought when she came in as a stray that she was an old dog, she is only aprox 10 mths - 1yr old and what a life she must have had. She is so thin her backbone juts up in the air and she has lost all muscle along the edge of it, a sure sign of starvation. She is so hungry she eats everything including her own mess, probably the only way she knows of surviving. Her skin is raw from sitting in mess and her coat is so matted it is pulling her skin and making it raw. Where she has been caged she has taken all the skin off the top of her nose. On coming in she was biting everyone that was trying to help her, but now she has been here a couple of days she is a real sweetie and loves affection. All we have to do now is get her on the way to recovery, and if her owner dares to appear hopefully we will get him prosecuted for cruelty.

SAMPSON

Picture
HOMED  SAMPSON has gone to a Rottie rescue foster home, if interested please contact the site to find details on his availability. Around the 20 week mark. A real treasure in the right hands. Good with dogs, cats, livestock, kids, people and hopefully if brought up correctly will stay that way. Has the odd mistake indoors but not bad, will chew so needs plenty toys. Unclaimed stray.

FREDDIE

Picture
GOOD NEWS FREDDIE HAS FOUND HIS NEW FOREVER HOME...
A special needs case
, a lovely rottie male, aprox 2-3yrs. Has major problems with his back legs, arthritis in the makes him a semi cripple and he will be on medication for the rest of his life, what there may be of it. Fantastic temperment. But a home with no young children will be required so no knocks or accidents to his back legs. Is there anyone out there who would give this dog a good life for the few years he may have, he doesnt deserve to be in a rescue. Handed in as the people were moving and couldn't take him. Good with most dogs (no dominant males), cats etc. AND to make it even better the money has been found to do corrective surgery on his back legs, he has had one done already and is recovering well and the next one will be done when he has recovered fully.

TOBY

Picture
HOMED  A lovely long tailed Doberman. A real sweetheart, gets on with most dogs but can take a dislike to some. Great with people and kids. We are told he is 11yrs but he certainly doesnt look it, more like 7 yrs. Initially was a rescue but the owner who has had him some time now lost his home and cannot take him to rented accommodation.

See below:

TOBY IN NEW HOME

Picture
Poor Toby is being forced to accept that he has to live in luxury..........imagine having to lay on a lovely bouncy, warm bed, snuggle up with your 3 other Doby friends and be spoilt rotten - who says their is no hope. Thanks CARE for helping me to help him.

PIXIE

Picture
HOMED Jack Russel bitch, smooth coat miniature. Unclaimed council stray. Good with people, dont know about children, so older children only. Seems ok with male dogs can get a bit too dominant for bitches. Aprox 1 yr old.

RED

Picture
RE-UNITED WITH HIS OWNER Council stray. Cracking temperment, needs a good groom and would be a handsome dog. Welsh Sheepdog male adult, voucher available for free castration. Seems good with other dogs, but is a car chaser. Would make an ideal agility dog or obedience as he is so willing to please you. Aprox 1/2 years.

TARA

Picture
HOMED   Boxer bitch, stray, available for rehoming from the 5/4/10. Lovely temperment. Has a mammary tumour that may or may not require removing. Pulls on a lead, plays ball, though doesnt bring it back. Adult, poss. ex breeding bitch.

FRITZ

Picture
HOMED  Not quite sure of this young mans breeding, he is at a guess a Lab or Retriever x possibly husky type dog as has a thick coat and high carriage tail. Very very boisterous, only 10 months to a year old. Loves everyone and everything. Will possibly be a little too bouncy for very young children but would certainly suit older children, he would love a game of ball etc. Is in dire need of training though he does know the basics if he calms down long enough to listen. Dogs Trust voucher for castration available. Fritz is being fostered by C.A.R.E please contact them for details on availability

CLYDE

Picture
HOMED  Elderly Cocker Spaniel, only just come in, will be available from the 26th April. Very very sweet natured. Would suit an older person. Seems dog, cat friendly, certainly people friendly. Came in extremely matted, so his coat will have to be cut back but will grow his lovely locks back in soon. His home has fallen through so he is still available, please contact Denise on this web site
http://www.gray-matter.org.uk

CLYDE

Picture
Clyde in his new foster home, before being moved on to his new forever home. Dont we look a happy bunny, or should I say dog.

SOCKS

Picture
HOMED  Tan/White broken coated Jack Russell bitch. Have been told she is good with people and kids. Seems good with dogs, not sure about cats as yet. Very nervous in the kennel environment but not nasty with it. Speyed, micro-chipped and we believe 3 years old. Being rehomed due to owners being incapable of keeping her in, and the neighbours fed up with her wandering......

GRUMPY

Picture
HOMED  Brought in 18.5.10 a sorry mess of a dog. Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel, totally matted with the coat weighing him down and tying his legs together, the weight on his ears alone must have been agony. Underneath the mess on his feet his nails that have never seen daylight for a very long time, were so overgrown they curled round on themselves and were on top of his feet, this now has caused his feet to be deformed. A vets visit has shown he has cataracts, bad heart, a cyst and very bad breath.....The only thing not bad about this boy is he has been fed and is slightly overweight. The removed matted coat has been weighed at 3.4kilo which is horrendous for the poor soul to carry around with him. Unless he is claimed this dog will be available for rehoming from the 26th May.

BRUNO AND BLADE

Picture
HOMED  2 GSD's one Bruno Black/Tan long coat with a terrible ear infection, 6 years, castrated Male. A real sweet gentleman though very underweight. He was a real poppet in the vets though in obvious pain when he had his ears looked at, and he is very tolerant of them being medicated.
Blade a white long haired, castrated male 20 months aprox. coat in bad need of grooming and extremely underweight. Has gone to pieces in the kennels just lying cowering in the back, desperate to be friends but just not sure how. Not a bad bone in his body, no matter how scared he has been he hasnt retaliated. He took his bath, blow dry and shaving in places like a true gent, I think he was just so pleased to have human attention.

MAISIE

Picture
HOMED  A real success story she has gone to Essex to be a Sniffer dog for the Police Force, lets x fingers she passes with flying colours.
Our Sprollie, came to me from another pound who said she was a biter and they didnt want her there. Apart from the initial snap as she was sooo scared, she has been a typical Springer/Collie, a total raving nut case. Loves attention, does everything at 100 miles an hour, walks out with the pack of all sexes and sizes with no problem. Would make a classic obedience/agility dog as she needs a lot of exercise to keep her amused.

SEB

Picture
HOMED  Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel, 7 year old, his dad is in hospital and we think that he is going to have to stay in, so he is now up for a new forever home. He is a lovely chap but in desperate need of training, has been allowed to get his own way all his life. He is more people orientated than dog, so would make a nice only dog for an older couple, no children, as he hasnt come across them, we think he is too set in his ways to accept them. We have been told that he has bitten his Dad a couple of times, so dog savvy home only, though he has shown no aggression here. He has been clipped off now to make it easier to look after his coat in the kennel situation, and he did have to be muzzled when it came to doing his feet, this will have to be taken into consideration when grooming him.
